In einer Großstadt, die kulturellen sowie künstlerischen Anspruch hat, bleibt der Blick nicht nur in Museen, Messen und Galerien hängen. Auch die Straßen, der Flair, das Ambiente und das Lebensgefühl der Stadt hinterlassen bei Besuchern und seinen Anwohner eine nachhaltige Wirkung. Der öffentliche Raum von Köln wird jedoch von Logos, Werbetafeln, Baustellen und grauen Straßenzügen dominiert. Ist es das, was wir sehen möchten? Was uns inspiriert? Was uns an einer Stadt fasziniert?
Mit dem Urban Art Festival CityLeaks präsentierten erstmalig die beiden Kölner Kunstvereine artrmx e.V. und Colorrevolution e.V. vom 5. bis zum 25. September 2011 nationale und internationale Größen sowie Nachwuchskünstler der Szene im urbanen Raum. Großformatige Gemälde und Installationen an öffentlichen Plätzen, Hausfassaden, in leerstehenden Gebäuden und Galerien wurden realisiert und prägen das Stadtbild Kölns auch nach Ablauf des Festivals. Die ehemals wichtigste Kunststadt Deutschlands bekam mit CityLeaks ein visuelles Highlight an Aktion, Interaktion und Suggestion im öffentlichen Raum geboten, das Köln als Kulturmetropole wieder attraktiver macht.
In a big city that has cultural and artistic demands, the gaze is not only stuck in museums, trade fairs and galleries. The streets, the flair, the ambience and the lifestyle of the city also leave a lasting effect on visitors and residents. However, the public space of Cologne is dominated by logos, billboards, construction sites and gray streets. Is that what we want to see What inspires us? What is it about a city that fascinates us? With the Urban Art Festival CityLeaks, the two Cologne art associations artrmx e.V. and Colorrevolution e.V. presented national and international greats as well as young artists from the urban scene for the first time from September 5 to 25, 2011. Large-format paintings and installations in public places, house facades, in vacant buildings and galleries were realized and shape the cityscape of Cologne even after the festival. With CityLeaks, the formerly most important art city in Germany was offered a visual highlight of action, interaction and suggestion in public space, which makes Cologne more attractive as a cultural metropolis.
